Jill Sobule Sings About Global Warming

The song is a lot better than the title of the post suggests. Check out the song here.

Jill writes:

The golfers are out. The Cherry Trees are blossoming. And, is it true that it is going to be around 69ºF this Saturday? Well, here is my almost happy song about global warming.

Three Parts Music, One Part Film

J. Caleb Mozzocco is one of the best film critics around, period. We’ve been running his reviews on weColumbus for some time, but I’ve decided he needs a larger audience.

Starting today, we’re going to be running some film-related content. It’ll be mostly reviews of new films, but we might throw in an occasional link to new trailers. I’d expect the content to be about 80% music, 20% film.

Get to know Caleb by reading his best and worst films of 2006 list.

Eric Metronome Concludes 52 Covers in 52 Weeks Project

Our main man Eric Metronome has concluded his ambitious “52 Covers in 52 Weeks” Project with some fun songs.

The last song is “Lucky Ladybug”, released yesterday, by Crewe/Slay. I know Eric and his family love the Guv’ner version made popular by the Sifl and Olly television show, so it’s fun to hear the whole family sing on this song.

Check out these last covers, and remember, Eric has a great solo career of original music too, that we’ve helped release. Check out some of those songs here.

Final Covers:

MP3: “Baby Blue Sedan” by Modest Mouse
MP3: “Untrustable” by Built to Spill

Travels = Metal Hearts + Victory at Sea

monanar2.jpg

It’s pretty slow this weekend, so I was really surprised and happy to get an e-mail from Anar from the excellent band Metal Hearts.

Anar wrote to let me know he’s working on a side project with Mona Elliott of Victory at Sea. The new band is called Travels. You can hear a few songs from them over on their MySpace page, but I’ve included one here for your downloading pleasure, too.

The name of the song is “Isabelle.” I used to have a great friend named Isabel De Los Rios, but our friendship faded away. I don’t think this song is about her, but maybe…

The Sun Release 3 Albums Worth of Material For Free

You guys remember The Sun? From Columbus OH, they got a bit of attention last year by releasing a DVD album on Warner Brothers, which featured videos of all the songs.

Well, they’ve just released three albums worth of demos and unreleased music in the popular MP3 format on their website. No telling how long they’ll be there, so gobble up quickly.

MP3: Satan

If I Had Trillion Dollars……

I can’t even count the amount of zeros in a trillion, but then again I failed math.

Anyway, dudes at Allofmp3 were slapped with a 1.65 trillion dollar lawsuit. Damn, son.
