New Bloc Party track.

bloc_party.jpgUsually I hate pointing folks toward streaming tracks, but this Bloc Party song, off their forthcoming sophomore effort A Weekend In The City, is just too good to pass up.

Listen to “The Prayer” by making with the clicky here.

Not bad, huh?

My one complaint? We have to wait until February for the album’s release?

Crap!

New Blind Melon songs

Not quite 2 months ago we reported that Blind Melon was reuniting with newcomer Travis Warren taking over the lead vocal role (RIP Shannon). And now …. 3 new Blind Melon songs are making their web debut.

Phonogram’s Cover Homage

Phonogram is a six-part comic book series that connects music, pop culture, and magic. If that doesn’t sell you, I don’t know what will.

Here’s all the covers… All of them are homages/remixes of familiar albums.. Why not flex your musical muscle and post a list of what real albums they’re parodying.. First one to get them all right wins a smile.

Favorite New Blog: Lamestain

Over the weekend, I read the entire archive of a new music blog, Lamestain. The site chronicles the grunge and pre-grunge scenes of the 80s and 90s, and is excellent written (unlike this site).

The description of the blog reads: “We’re aiming to archive lesser-known grunge and similar music from the Pacific Northwest. Expect TAD. Expect Cat Butt. Don’t expect Mad Season.”

Bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam broke when I was in high school, and it really impacted my life. Reading Lamestain, I get a better understanding of the music climate that helped bring these bands about, and there’s tons of mp3 links to help better put it into perspective. Totally totally recommended. Check it out, pronto.
