Ted Leo’s Website Finally Redesigned

Never have I loved a musician while equally hating their website. Luckily, the Ted Leo website was finally redesigned. I’d love to see an RSS feed for Ted’s news/blog area, but I’ll take what I can get.

The Ravonettes

I miss you, The Ravonettes.

Good to see you’ve got a few new yummy demos on your MySpace page and are going to be touring this summer (how about a Columbus, Ohio show?).

Also it was lovely to watch a recent show (March 11) from Maxwell’s in glorious streaming action.

Keep in touch, okay? Thanks.

Shout Out Louds Update

I miss you, Shout Out Louds.

Good to see you’ve signed to Merge Records and have a new record coming out soon.

Also it was lovely to watch a new video in Glorious Quicktime.

Keep in touch, okay? Thanks.

Chip Midnight’s Atomic Side

Donewaiting.com writer Chip Midnight has launched yet another new website, Atomic Ned. Named after the column he ran on this very site, Chip says Atomic Ned is going to be his one-stop shop for just about everything he writes for himself.

I think he’s taking this one pretty seriously, considering his baby Swizzle Stick actually redirects to the new Ned site…

The Black Angels, Third Time Out

Tonight I’m going to see Austin’s The Black Angels for the third time. I’m a little concerned. The first time I saw them (at the High Five), I thought they were really really good. I saw them again opening for The Black Keys a few months later, and while I did like their set, I felt like it was more or less the same set I saw the first time.

Granted, what they do live is really good. They create a great atmosphere and mood with their music that few bands these days can do. But still, I feel like they really need to expand their musical vocabulary, introducing different time changes or instruments or something to make them repeatable.

So will there be any big changes tonight? Or more of the same ol’ same ol’? I’ll know in a few hours.

Newish Music Blogs for Your Bookmarking Pleasure

Head on over to World of Wumme and Population Doug and add them to your favorite bookmarking tool/RSS reader/memory.

Wumme is run by Kevin Elliott, who is doing a lot of writing for Stylus lately and Doug is run by Doug Elliott, the secret architect of the 24th century.

Both dudes are based in Columbus OH, increasing the Midwest’s dominance of the entire blogaversity. SORRY NYC.

BONUS: Every Day is Like Wednesday is an excellent and often times hilarious comic book blog by Donewaiting.com film critic J Caleb Mozzocco.

DOUBLE POINT BONUS: Electric Pure Land is a music blog from Dusty, who is in Freedom, Sea Bird and other bands on the FBI Most Wanted List. (also Columbus-based)
