Times New Viking Covers Arcade Fire for Merge Covers Compilation

The first time I saw Times New Viking was when they opened for The Arcade Fire at Little Brother’s. AF was just starting to get some attention, and the show was probably only 50% full.

Last night’s Death Cab for Cutie show was a lot of fun, even as the outdoor show got colder and colder as it went on. The band seemed more energetic than I’ve ever seen them, and they busted out some old songs that made a lot of people happy.

You probably know Chris Walla as the guitarist of Death Cab for Cutie. He’s also produced albums for a ton of my favorite bands including The Decemberists, Nada Surf, and The Long Winters.

He’ll be releasing his first solo album in January 2008 on Barsuk Records. Check out a song from that release:
