“El Pasado Es Un Animal Grotesco” (The Past Is a Grotesque Animal) At The Wexner Center

El Pasado Es Un Animal Grotesco translates to (The Past Is a Grotesque Animal) which I guess you could ascertain in the header.  The title comes from an Of Montreal song.  It’s written and directed by Mariano Pensotti.  The play follows 4 people in Buenos Aires around over a ten year period and watches their lives unfold and unravel. Mr. Pensotti found 4 photographs and developed the story about these people from there. Although the play is in Spanish there are subtitles being projected in English on screens next to the stage. It sold the Wex out last night so I guess this probably adds to the experience.

Columbus,Ohio product and former Deathly Fighter collaberator Ahmed Gallab will be on the David Lettermen TV program performing with his band Of Montreal. I had never heard of Of Montreal before Ahmed joined them because I use the jewelry man and bol from XXL mag as my only sources of information. But when Ahmed joined the group it made me decide to google them. And apperehently they are really big and will be on David Letterman tonight.
Will Smith who fought reptillians in Independence Day after rapping in Philadelphia(no tom hanks) is the other guest.
Dave Lettermen is on at 11:30 pm here in Columbus. Channel Ten I do believe.

We’ve written a lot about our dear friend Ahmed and his band Sinkane. He’s now playing drums for Of Montreal and some photos have popped up from what looks like an insane live show. Seriously I feel like I need to travel to check this out.

Ahmed has had a crazy year. His band, Sinkane released their debut album. And then he joined Caribou as the drummer to rescue that tour. Details here.

Now he’s about to join Of Montreal as their drummer. Dude is on a roll.

im in columbus for one more week and then i leave to athens, georgia where i will be meeting up with of Montreal. i will be playing drums for them. we’re doing a photoshoot and then ill be going to phoenix for a month to visit my parents before i have to meet up with of Montreal again for rehearsal starting august. tour starts in october and im pretty much going to be with the band for a year or so. i dont know what the specifics are other than their next record ‘skeletal lamping’ will be released this fall.
