If you’re going to SXSW and Showlist Austin isn’t on your daily list of sites to visit, you a punk. I mean it seems like so many sites (somes with real staffs and real budgets!) this year are copping Dan’s style it’s sort of embarrassing. Naughty, naughty websites.

New Video: Vandaveer “A Mighty Leviathan Of Old”

In this new video from Vandaveer, we go on some Lost-style time traveling mind bendery that will make your brain hurt as you travel along the 5+ minutes of the music. It’s worth the pain, though, as the song is great and the video is beautifully crafted.

The band is wrapping up their latest tour in New York in support of their latest album, Divide & Conquer.

12/09 Brooklyn, NY – Union Hall
12/10 Manhattan, NY – Mercury Lounge

Vandaveer: Turpentine

MP3: Turpentine

Vandaveer joins the line of recent favorites of mine like AA Bondy and Langhorne Slim, all doing something interesting with the Americana/alt-folk genre. Like the previous mentioned artists, Vandaveer effortlessly creates delicate, acoustic, beautiful music, but also exists in a darkner, noir-inspired area that we sometimes find some of the best Andrew Bird songs. Led by Mark Charles Heidinger, the whole album grabs your attention, but when he’s joined by his sister Rose Guerin on vocals, it all comes together perfectly.

The band is currently on an extended tour. Download the song, watch the video, and keep reading for tour dates…
