P. Blackk’s new video for “Coming of Age” off his upcoming album with J.Rawls “Contemporary Nostalgia” is everything that is right about the world.
One has to love the completeness of the whole thing.
The Taylor Nawrocki directed clip starts off with Rawls’ kids in his home. The kids open a door to a studio session with the old schooler, J.Rawls and the most freshest, beloved young rapper P.Blackk getting busy. Then P.Blackk pearls around town with his DJ, Bruni. This all while local Hip Hop legend DJ O-Sharp supplies the cuts. While I am sucker for true culture; the main reason why this example of culture works is because the song is good.
P. Blackk’s & J. Rawls “Contemporary Nostalgia” drops December 30th.

Here’s a brand new video from The Black Swans for their song “Where are You Tonight?” off the band’s most recent and excellent Misra release Occasion for Song. Filmed here in Columbus, it features local Elvis impersonator Billy Cash (aka “The Columbus King”) goofing around with Black Swans singer Jerry DeCicca.

Dave Grohl’s directorial debut, Sound City, will premiere at Sundance this year, with a wider release in February. Here’s the 10-cent description:
The film tells the story of Sound City, the legendary Van Nuys recording story, and was inspired when Grohl purchased the Neve 8028 recording console built in 1972 from the studio (and his personal connection to Sound City began in 1991 when Nirvana recorded Nevermind there). The recording console is considered to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment and has captured such artists as Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Fear, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and many other legends.

I think the title says it. I guess it should be mentioned that this is at Vice UK’s 10th anniversary.

From one of my favorite albums of 2012, Shut Down The Streets.
Though Mark Sultan‘s June Columbus show was plenty entertaining, Mr. Sultan’s return on Tuesday promises even more rock ‘n roll value as he reprises his role in the King Khan & BBQ Show! Canadian legends Sultan (aka BBQ) and King Khan have reunited to conjure another garage/punk/doowop/etc party and have set out on a late fall jaunt through the Midwest and East. No new music is available yet, but if the above video is any indication, these two are ready to make beautiful magic together again.
Contributing to their Columbus shindig will be local openers Day Creeper and Tight Bros. Admission is $10 at the door and here.
More video evidence after the jump: Continue reading
