Ex-Warrant singer Jani Lane now fronting Great White

If you happened to catch the clip on YouTube of Great White singer Jack Russell falling on stage earlier this summer (fast forward to 2:12), you know that Russell’s in pretty bad shape following a number of health issues.

At the end of August, it was announced that ex-Warrant singer Jani Lane (most recently in the news due to a DUI) would be filling in the rest of Great White’s tour dates for 2010. The biggest question was which Jani Lane would show up – the drunk one who was booted from Warrant’s reunion tour in 2008 or the sober, top-of-his-game one that I saw perform a great show at the Alrosa in 2007?

New Orleans emcee down with Curren$y. He just got added to Curren$y’s Smoker’s Club Tour. The tour isn’t hitting Columbus but the internet is availble in most places besides Cuba. Which might be good for Cuba, who knows.

The new Brian Deck-produced album, Buzzard, will be out Sept. 21 on Margot’s own Mariel Recordings (with distro via Redeye), and the next day (9/22) the recently downsized band (featuring Super Dessert and Tiara alum Erik Kang) will play Circus with the Lonely Forest and Cameron McGill & What Army. I don’t think you can call Margot chamber-pop anymore.

Guided By Voices classic lineup goes on tour, including Columbus stop; Times New Viking open 1st leg

The classic GBV lineup that is reuniting for Matador’s anniversary is heading on tour.

Cringe reports that Guided by Voices are coming to Outland in Columbus on October 16. Tickets on sale tomorrow. The band is also playing Southgate House on October 15.

New Jersey’s Titus Andronicus is doing a mini tour of in-store performances in support of their new Civil War concept album, The Monitor, which is out tomorrow on XL. One of the seven stops will be at Used Kids Records here in Columbus this Wednesday, 3/10. And it’s free. The poster says 7 pm, Used Kids says 6 pm. Who will you trust…

They’ll also be back in Columbus at the Summit April 22.

My own involvement with BenCo aside, I’m thrilled to announce that Fanfarlo will be coming to town to play The Summit on April 1st with Lawrence Arabia and Robert Francis supporting. (My previous thoughts on Fanfarlo here.)

Acclaimed U.K. five-piece Fanfarlo have announced more North American headlining dates for March and April with Lawrence Arabia and Robert Francis as support. The band whom are just finishing up a string of European headline shows will be back in America next week to make their national television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman Monday, February 15th.
