Listen to BIM THOMAS Rap on Obnox- “Cash Weed Green”

Well, as punk as all the rappers are trying to get they will never be Lamont “Bim” Thomas. Bim played in the Bassholes, and This Moment in Black History. He currently does a lot in Obnox & plays drums for the Unholy Two.. For those that don’t know. These are all hella crucial Ohio garage and scuzz punk bands.

Well, on the above Obnox song, Bim RAPS about how he has been the man forever. My mind is kinda blown. He isn’t the dopest emcee but the backing music is good and you can’t argue with what he is saying. Everyone give Bim some money when you run into him please.

Here are a couple joints.  One has Stalley produced by Columbus, Ohio’s Rashad. The second has  Stalley’s Columbus, Ohio friend King Vada over a Pharrell beat.

MP3: the MHz Legacy – “Spaceship” Ft. Danny Brown (Prod. By Harry Fraud)

MP3: the Mhz Legacy “Spaceship” Ft. Danny Brown (Prod. By Harry Fraud)

The Fader premiered this MHz Legacy song called “Spaceship” . I can say that if you were around in the late 90’s/early 2000’s  Columbus Hip Hop scene, listening to this verse by the late Camu Tao from “U R What U Eat”  that he used to kick outside of Bernies on High Street in Columbus all the time followed-up by a Danny Brown verse over a Harry Fraud beat, on a smart phone while sitting in the front seat of your shitty car in  2012  is a futuristic, and  ghostly experience.

The Mhz were a Columbus rap group consisting of RJD2, Cama Tao, Copywrite, Jakki, and Tage. Camu died of cancer in 2008.  The remaining Mhz  are putting out an album called the MHz Legacy which this song is on. The album drops October 30th on Man Bites Dog Records.

C.I.A? See Killer Mike ain’t kidding. Well I don’t agree with his dissmissing of Obama; this new video for his  Reagan song makes some good points about Iran-Contra.

Sufjan Stevens announces new Christmas CD/LP boxset “Silver & Gold”

Great news from Asthmatic Kitty. Apparently all those Christmas teaser videos were a harbinger after all. (And no, it’s never too early for Christmas music.) Details:

“Happy Holidays! On November 13, 2012, Asthmatic Kitty Records will release (another!) Christmas box-set extravaganza by the implacable singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens—Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10, a compilation of 5 EPs recorded between 2006 and 2010.

Expanding on the tradition of the first box-set (Songs for Christmas, Vols. 1-5 from 2006), Silver & Gold is a generous document of five more years of holly-jolly jubilee — Christmas caroling, sleigh-bell-ringing, collaborative songwriting — undertaken by Sufjan and his various musical cohorts. Originally intended as gifts for family and friends, these musical snapshots have been re-mixed and re-assembled for the public in an exquisitely-designed gift box containing all the Yuletide pleasures money can buy: Christmas stickers, temporary tattoos, lyric sheets and chord charts, a paper ornament, an apocalyptic pull-out poster, photos, illustrations, and extensive liner notes—a veritable Christmas feast for the eyes and ears.
