Trash Talk Drops “Slander” Video & New Creature Skateboard

Damn…When I watched footage of Odd Future and Trash Talk I could not help but to smile.
Rap Metal is usually corny. There is something about thrash, and raw Hip Hop which maybe PE/Anthrax did not  freak 100 percent right but works energy wise for moments….(word Pos 2?)

Anyway, for those that know Odd Future but not the Thrash part of the equation:

Sacramento’s Trash Talk has toured the world and even messed with Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF ) on their 2009 single East Of Eden .  In October, Trash Talk dropped the hard body, shredding Awake EP which is available from True Panther Records.

After the jump, peep the animated video for Slander off Trash Talk’s Awake Ep, and also check out Trash Talk’s new board that Creature Skateboards  just put out here.

David Lynch Remixes Zola Jesus’ “In Your Nature”

Sacred Bones normally likes to approach their label like a curated, and continuous art project. They have an in-house design team (David Correll and Caleb Braaten) and a short-film director((Jacqueline Castel). The design is informed by cinema. So imagine how stoked Sacred Bones is that David Lynch remixed the Zola Jesus song In Your Nature . The remix will be available on the “In Your Nature” single to be released on February 21 via Sacred Bones Records

Listen to David Lynch’s remix of In Your Nature below:

Mr. Lynch went through Zola Jesus’ album Conatus, and choose this cut to re-envision. Lynch only kept the vocals. He replaced the original version’s strings with guitar and drum parts, written and performed by himself and engineer Dean Hurley.

The original of “In Your Nature” had a dance-y pace. Lynch’s version is more driving, careening and cinematic . Zola Jesus’ Nika Roza Danilova normally avoids remixes.  But there is an exception for anything.

Later on in the year, Sacred Bones is also set to reissue a deluxe vinyl version of Lynch’s Eraserhead soundtrack.

Zola Jesus have also updated their tour-dates. Which, unfortunately, has the Feb 20th Columbus date moved to the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati.

“Black Keys Rising” Rolling Stone Cover Story Clowns Nickelback

The Black Keys channel Kenneth Anger’s Scorpio Rising on the cover of the January 19 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine which actually hits stands on January 6th.

Here is an excerpt Rolling Stone posted today where the Keys basically tell lames to ‘Watch the Rock N Roll Throne…’.

  • Patrick Carney is pretty sure he knows what’s ailing his chosen genre these days. “Rock & roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world,” he says, blowing cigarette smoke out the window of his rented East Village loft a few days before the band heads to L.A. “So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that! Rock & roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don’t like to see it fucking ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit. When people start lumping us into that kind of shit, it’s like, ‘Fuck you,’ honestly.”

This is sort of strange. Van Halen “announcing” a 2012 tour? No dates. No mention about a release date for a new album. No snippets of new songs in the video. Will this really happen or is this stunt going to backfire?
