Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band was one of the highlights of the inaugural Bunbury Festival held this past summer in Cincinnati. Ripping through guitar licks straight from the crossroads, the Rev’s swampy blues sound harkens back to a pre-pop music world.
Here’s the Indiana-based band’s new video, “Something for Nothing”.
The road warrior trio has dates booked through the end of the year including a Nov.23 date in Indianapolis and a Nov.24 in Cincinnati (both within driving distance of Columbus).

In the above video, MF DOOM goes bombing in London, England with OSU graduate Drew Wolf as his look-out. The bugged part is that Drew played look-out for a plenty of Columbus graffiti writers when he lived here so I guess Doom picked the right guy.

Killer Mike is playing Ace of Cups in Columbus, Ohio November 9th.
Killer Mike’s El-P produced album “R.A.P Music” is easily one of the best albums of the year as it captures a down south everyman spirit with the bombastic conviction of early 90’s Public Enemy. So this was already a good show.
And it just got better as Envelope and Path have been added as the local support.
$13 in advance/$15 day of show. For more info visit Benco Presents.
After the jump revisit Envelope’s video for “You Want Me To Go” ft. Nikki Portman.

Fat Possum Recording artists the Walkmen announced a tour with Father John Misty. The Walkmen will be coming to Columbus on 1/17 as they play the Newport Music Hall on January 17th. I believe this will give me over two months to elicit some sort of twitter response from Father John Misty.
The Walkmen are releasing a Dance With Your Partner/Vermeer 65′ limited edition 7″. The release is limited to 1000 copies and will be available on Tuesday, November 6th.

Last year we hinted at a project that Malefactors of Great Wealth’s main dude JP Olsen (also of Beetkeepers/Burn Barrel) was working on with the Black Swans’ Jerry DeCicca. The project, titled “You’ll Never See My Face in Kansas City,” has reached completion, and we’re proud to premiere the two resulting videos for each musician’s song.
You can read the full background at the project website, but the gist of it is, Olsen became fascinated by artist Chris Burden, who, as part of a 1971 performance art piece, wore a ski mask for several days in Kansas City without taking it off. Olsen called DeCicca and challenged him to write a song with the aforementioned title, and he Olsen said he’d do the same. You can watch these videos (more akin to short films) to hear the resultant songs — both striking and well worth your time — and you can also order a 7-inch or digital download from the website. Or even bundle the 7-inch with a custom-made replica of the mask that Burden wore.

Sinkane’s new video for “Runnin”off his tremendous album MARS reminds me of an early 90’s Political Rap video as it has frontman Ahmed Gallab dressed as a radical political leader and getting assassinated.
MARS is in stores now on DFA Records.

Pearl Jam’s guitarist Mike McCready guitarist and filmmaker Jesse Dylan made the above video “Life is A Pre-Existing Condition” asking people to pledge to not vote for any candidate that does not support Obamacare.
Mike McCready has Crohn’s disease so he has a unique perspective on this issue
“Before the Affordable Care Act, people with conditions like mine could be denied coverage. I know. I was denied twice, even being a member of a famous rock band,” said Mr. McCready. “The people who don’t have those kind of resources, they are stuck, they have no choices. But now, we can’t be denied insurance because of something we can’t change—our illnesses. We have choices, we can be insured, and we can focus on having a life.”
If inclined pledge here.
