Video: Lydia Loveless – “Steve Earle” (Live at Comfest)

YouTube Preview Image

He won’t stop calling and I’m not sure how to blow him off
He stands outside my window until I have to call the cops
But they always let him out of jail cuz he’s a famous face
That’s a funny way of asking me to go out on a date…

Steve Earle, won’t stop calling me

Lydia Loveless’s Comfest set was one of my favorites, and new song “Steve Earle” was a set highlight. It’ll be on her new album, Indestructible Machine, out in September on Bloodshot.

Comfest 2011 Music Schedule

Comfest has posted the 2011 Music Schedule using a difficult to read PDF tool.

I was surprised that they didn’t put Phantods on the Main Stage. Also surprised there was so many bands I don’t know.

AND JUST IN TIME FOR COMFEST: We’ve brought back the Donewaiting Friendship Farm Message Board. Don’t call it a comeback. Unless you want to.

Bicentennial Bear (ex-Miranda Sound): New MP3s, Playing Comfest

Bicentennial Bear features Billy Peake, Scott Haynes and Sean Sefcik from Miranda Sound (RIP), my favorite band from Columbus, along with Adam Dowell (Celebrity Pilots) and Leah Wahlin. They’re currently working on their debut album to be released at some point this year. Wet your whistle by downloading these two recent recordings:

MP3: Cardinal Codes
MP3: Year of Our Ladybirds

You can catch them perform at the Offramp Stage Sunday during Comfest @ 1:30pm.

Video: Gibson Bros – “Big Pine Boogie” (Comfest 1987)

YouTube Preview Image

Thanks to Davey Highben and his treasure trove known as the Never Ending Compilation for pointing me to this video of the Gibson Bros playing “Big Pine Boogie” at Comfest in 1987. Apparently it’s from one of the band’s self-released tapes called “Has anybody got an assburn?”

The Gibson Bros will reunite at the CMC’s Parking Lot Blowout in Columbus on July 10. New poster after the jump.

Comfest Rumors 2010 #1

Here’s some rumors about Comfest 2010.

- Most stages will be ending earlier in the past. Not a lot of stuff happening in the dark.
- Longer breaks between bands

This will likely result in 40-50 less bands.

As always, the thought provoking conversation about Columbus’ favorite festival rages on in the message board. (Don’t forget our bonus libel thread).

I Am Voting For Envelope For CD101 Summerfest

YouTube Preview Image

You know Donewaiting rides for rapper Envelope. He rides for us. Envelope played our Third and Sixth anniversaries.

Above is a video Jessica Morgan took of Envelope’s epic Comfest performance that was cut short because of some sort of noise rule that placates cowards  in nearby townhouses.

Well Well…looks like Envelope has a shot being the highlight at another outdoor festival here in Columbus

CD101 is having this thing where you vote for  on their website to pick who plays their  Summerfest with fellow Monster House alums, Matt & Kim and some other groups. If Envelope is added to this festival then his music will end up in regular rotation on CD101.

Aside from him being a good dood,  really no artist ,save maybe TNV  or Blueprint, deserves radio more than Envelope when you account draw, record sales, and resonance with an audience.

So help Tony help this world be less mediocre.  Click here to Vote
