Fly Union-Value Pack

Fly Union have this drinking squad called the “Rossi Posse”. It centers around drinking Rossi. I think thats why they have drink special at Whud-Up Wednesdays that involves Rossi. Not Sure. But its inexpensive and comes in a large quantity.

Above is a shaky video of a Fly Union and DJ Giovanny putting people down with the Rossi Posse on the Red Bull Party Bus that CJ Townsend hooked up last month. We basically rolled around drinking in a bus while CJ played various musics, including “Gold Chain” by Fly Union, a song thats has been popular on the blogs.

All free-loading booze deals aside, Fly Union is back with another download thats been getting burn. Value Pack is a 4 song EP that Fly Union is giving aways.

I Am Voting For Envelope For CD101 Summerfest
07.20.09 • by Wes Flexner

YouTube Preview Image

You know Donewaiting rides for rapper Envelope. He rides for us. Envelope played our Third and Sixth anniversaries.

Above is a video Jessica Morgan took of Envelope’s epic Comfest performance that was cut short because of some sort of noise rule that placates cowards  in nearby townhouses.

Well Well…looks like Envelope has a shot being the highlight at another outdoor festival here in Columbus

CD101 is having this thing where you vote for  on their website to pick who plays their  Summerfest with fellow Monster House alums, Matt & Kim and some other groups. If Envelope is added to this festival then his music will end up in regular rotation on CD101.

Aside from him being a good dood,  really no artist ,save maybe TNV  or Blueprint, deserves radio more than Envelope when you account draw, record sales, and resonance with an audience.

So help Tony help this world be less mediocre.  Click here to Vote

Welcome New Donewaiting Writer Jessica Morgan
06.09.09 • by Jessica Morgan

get-right-crowd

Introduction from Wes Flexner:

The first time I hung out with Jessica Morgan she was giving me a ride to Dirtnap and Johnny Cashola’s from Club Carma. She pulled up the corner, turned down the random Gucci Mane song and yelled to a group of black doods, “Oh no, the blue-eyed white devil has me. I can’t help it. They eat pussy. That’s their tricknology. Damn devils.” Then she peeled out. After I turned rouge from the embarrassment, I decided girl could be Sarah Silvermen x 9 ether. Makes sense.

She is Thought Set (The Catalyst, Meta4c,Envelope etc). Almost a year later Jessica approached me at Dipset Night at Spice and told me she followed my blog when she was away at school at NYU, and told me I should put her on. She was already goof-balling on the Get Right Blog as Jessica the Gawd. When she approached that night, Jessica was rocking a Barbara Kruger shirt she copped at the Pictures Generation show at the Met with my homegirl Caitlin, something about all that made me be like, ‘ www.donewaiting.com understands you babygirl’ and then we pinky swore to be besties. This Get Right review is her first blog but believe me she will around town for the next few weeks. Jessica Morgan is the person in this picture that isn’t me.

When I think of the Spice Bar certain things come to mind; douche bag guys in bad clothes and their annoying cokehead girlfriends standing around being pretentious or drunkenly dancing to shitty Flow-Rida songs and spilling my drink. Those assholes were in for a rude awakening when the Milk Bar’s Get Right took the place over for its 2 year anniversary party; Get Right shut shit down providing three rooms of DJs playing a variety of music. Diplo in Columbus Review
04.24.09 • by Wes Flexner

null
800 people paid 12-20 dollars to see Diplo in Columbus,Ohio.
For good reason. He invented anything that matters currently in the world of dancing. I mean…do I need to point out how before Diplo it was either James Brown or staying home because nerds wanted to play drum n bass?
I mean he made all of us ex-backpackers or hardcore kids into club goers kinda.
Anyway, after the jump I will recap the show.

Pictures by Danielle Kline may vary due the fact that she took 423 of them. But they are all better then the ones I took on my cellphone camera

Get Down on the Floor With the Get Right Mixtape.
08.11.08 • by Wes Flexner

This picture is not indicative of the turn-outs of Get Right. Hit their MySpace up to see the success. Also look at Johnny Cashola’s Lynard Skynard shirt. Look at Dirtnaps shirt too. Look at Detox cause he don’t dress weird. Just don’t look at Franz from Triceratops if you are at work.

The number one phrase. The only phrase that has counted is Get Your Mind Right. It’s Scientology with results instead of aliens. If not “Shh, lady, Gargle”.

Anyway.

So When DCKareem of the number one sex shop Milk Bar teamed with Columbus’ most versatile deejaay Detox, and Johnnny Cashola (who is known to be a part of fashionable society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained) linked up to make a dance party that is soo Columbus, soo well-respected; it was only a matter time they put a mixtape on smash.

It may be difficult wrap your head around this tape if you aren’t from Columbus. See Columbus really loves Gucci Mane, and Dipset. Trap rap has run downtown nightclub Culture (white and black) for as long I can remember being willing go to nightclubs with the insurance I would not have to hear drum n bass or jungle. We hate ravers. We like hard shit. And we like comedy. And this ain’t irony. Except when Detox brings back Rick Ross saying working with the police and over and over again. But you know what. Rick Ross works with the police. (more…)

Basic Sociological Awareness PT 1: Twiztid Juggalos
04.09.08 • by Wes Flexner

This past month I have watched DJ Detox+ friends rock so many packed rooms. Sweatin, Get Right, The Catalyst’s release party, So What Wednesdays, The Milk Bar and even Twiztid at the Newport all got handled.

I am gonna hit you with a series of blogs with pictures and playlists from a gaybar, a downtown nightclub, a boutique, a shitgaze(jokes) haven turned Stretch + Bobbie 89.9 for a night and a sold-out Juggalo event to let you know Home Mortgage scandals don’t need to be the norm

Lets start with the Sold-out Newport.
Might as well set it off with proof that if God doesn’t love ugly, someone else will and make 25 dollars at ticket.

Hell Hath No Fury:Our Night At the Judgement House
11.16.07 • by Wes Flexner

Hardcore bands,Black Dove, Reflect, and Brian Handle are playing at Carabar Tommorrow. Between groups, Angry Andy, Scotty Cockblock and Deathly Fighter’s Christian Wieland will be playing records. Here is a story about Angry Andy and I at a Hell House.

Sneak shot of Satan. Photos by Danielle Kline

I am assuming a lot of DW “friends” have seen the documentary Hell House. It’s about haunted houses put on by Christians in an attempt at scaring potential hellrotters into avoiding eternal damnation by accepting Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. If you haven’t seen it, you can prolly imagine would that entail. Basically shock tactics are used to show homosexuals, drug addicts, abortionists, and general non-repenters the unpleasentness of Dante’s Inferno that awaits.

A product of the Hell House movement are Judgement Houses. JH’s are haunted houses put on by Christians into an attempt scaring potential hellrotters into avoiding eternal damnation by accepting Jesus Christ as their lord and savior.

I am not sure why they changed the name, but I am sure there was a meeting after the documentary and whoever is in charge of non-Islamic religion in America decided that “Judgement” sounds nicer than Hell.( sorta like cocaine user sounds better than crack addict.) Actually, to be less sardonic, they prolly honestly felt certain things needed to be toned down because their are some good people in the church.

Earlier in October, the homie Cashola, and I started googling around knowing that if GW was able to make the election close enough to fix twice with rural Ohio religious folk, then there had to be some Judgement Houses around. We located one at the Chillicothe Baptist Church. CBC is a religious collective that prides themselves on “Exalting the King and Expanding the Kingdom”. Later that week we scooped up Dkline, and Angry Andy, and much like after one passes Cassidy his patron so that he can have his drink and his two-step, it was on.

We went and hit the interstate.

After the jump, Youth groups debate the N word. Myspace is the devils web and net. We get to meet the devil, and Jesus. And even if you don’t believe in a Mystery spook, we can all bond over the Buckeyes.

YOUUUUU! YOUUUUU!
10.08.07 • by Wes Flexner

Superman that…

Get Right is a monthly Dance Party thrown by Johnny Cashola, and DC Kareem at the Cove Lounge. Its an interesting place for it because the Cove is like a nicer, black version of Bourbon Street or Carabar. By that I mean its a smaller spot that appeals to to people that actually have taste, and is respected. That respect pays off. Much like rockbars having Brian Johnstown Massacre, Sonic Youth or the Silver Apples, the Cove has had Questlove, Green Lantern, and Biz Markie this past year. Cove promoters throw a First Friday elsewhere, so they turn it over to my idiot friends once a month. For good reason……the bar stays packed. And the same records that work on the Cove’s clientele make “Get Rights” crowd excited.

Pictures after the break..
