MP3:Path- Wes Eckmayer
MP3: Path- Matt Whitehurst
MP3:Path- Keith Lawson
MP3: Path- Ron Barker
Columbus rapper/producer Path made an interesting instrumental album. He titled each song on Peasant LIfe after the government name of someone that influenced him.
Real sweet gesture right? He even made a song called Wes Eckmayer. Thats my real name. I took the name Wes Flexner when I was still writing graffiti and needed a nom de plume when making zines. Nowadays having an alias makes me seem more sketchy than I really am.
“I don’t think I can do this. I don’t even know your real last name. This is going too fast.”
Anyway, My song is alright. It’s got a pitched soul sample. But really it is not as good as Matt Whitehurst. That song has layers and progressions. Overall it just sounds cooler.
Wes Eckmayer is also inferior to Keith Lawson a more haunting, stronger, darker and sinister sounding beat. I would also like to switch songs with Ron Barker. That song similar is to Wes Eckmayer but has a more laid back party vibe to accompany the pitched up sample.

MP3: The Next Big Thing
Columbus emcee/producer Path drops a solo tape that guests Nick Tolford, Fabrashay A, Le For the Uncool, ZeroStar, Lev Don, Tyreless Won and more.
Path basically talks about dreams, nostalagia, day to day activities and his various weeded observations. If you have ever been to the Carabar and sat around talking about the various goings on, then “PBR and Vegan Coneys” will warm your heart.
Also the Tolford song is something else.
Very Columbus and beyond.

I stopped into Carabar to have a drink with Ron Barker. Someone on our message board had been taking shots at Ron and his bar, Carabar, this week. Ron requested that he could use our public forum to address his detractors, and beyond.

MP3:Path(featuring Jacob Wright)-the Waking Life
MP3:Path-Floating Away Freestyle
The lil homie Path celebrates his 21st Bday today by dropping a song off his album, the Next Big Thing. While that album title maybe showing a bit of rap modesty, I will say that Path has been really supportive of Columbus Hip Hop. Whether its opening up his studio to Fabrashay A for the Art Show or working with local legends like Met of Sa Smash, Meta4ce or Copywrite, in general Path is one of the few people in the current Campus music community that actually is an active student of his city.
These two songs will probably appeal more the Rhymesayer fans in our city than the cats that that grew up on Dipset but saul goode.
The Waking Life features his friend Jacob Wright from a band called I Am Mute.

MP3:Fabrashay A Ft Zerostar and Le For the Uncool-My City (produced by Path)
In the greatest team-up since KMD’s and Brand Nubian’s “Nitty Gritty” Milk N Syrup, and Weightless are on the same track. Okay is nothing like that song but it is still nice to think about.
The song is produced by Path from All Eyes Path. It starts off unassuming and sparse and develops into something special. The email I got for this song said it was “untitled” so it may not be called “My City”.
Regardless, the song is off of “the Art Show” Fabrashay’s upcoming album. It’s dope and if you don’t download then hopefully you don’t listen to rap and are just waiting for more pictures of bearded men playing ukelalees.
Sidenote:Besides catching Zerostar at “get right, getting right” you can also catch him hosting “Grindtime 2 I Still Get it in Ohio” it is an emcee battle October 16th at Skullys.
More on that later this week.
