Video: Odd Future – “Sam Is Dead” Short Film

It’s too bad Tedd Koppel’s Nightline TV Show wasn’t around to talk with Tyler, the Creator after Odd Future’s historic appearance on Jimmy Fallon, or the debut of the Yonkers video like he did with Madonna or Public Enemy when they dropped controversial videos.

At Midnight est Odd Future will premiere a short film that us directed by Wolf Haley and features himself, Domo Genesis and Lee Spielman of Trash Talk, Manface, Lionel “L-Boy” Boyce, Brick Stowell and Lucas Vercetti, the film will feature an original score composed by Tyler, The Creator.

While, Odd Future doesn’t have the element of surprise on their side anymore; I am eager to watch this.

UPDATED: Below is the video for Sam Is Dead which is  a war story built around Tyler’s & Domo’s song off OF VOL 2.  The video is not shocking but slick in a manner that speaks with confidence of the staying power of Odd Future.

Watch after the jump.

A$AP Rocky Talks To Noisey About Playing Trill JFK and Lana & Waka on His New Album

YouTube Preview Image

Noisey has a pretty good interview with A$ap Rocky about playing a “trill JFK” in Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem” video (above), In this interview Rocky discusses groping Lana Del Rey  while filming “National Anthem”. I am a decent looking man. I have nice eyes. But I do not grope women unless I am already having sex with them and they are on the phone with someone they are related to.

But A$ap is dat pretty mfer so I imagine unsolicited ass-grabbing is situationally acceptable from him.

I watched the video several times to figure out when Rocky groped her. At first, I thought maybe he grabbed her boob because he really is never near her butt. But in the interview he definitely says “buns”. Whatever the case, Del Rey  is on Rocky’s upcoming album LongLiveA$AP on a song called “My Bitch”, which drops September 11th.

I guess Waka Flocka Flame,  and Pharrell are among the other guests according to this interview. No word if Rocky also groped Waka Flocka Flame but I would assume he would not because A$ap is not homophobic so therefore he is not repressing an existence of latent homosexuality.

from A$AP ROCKY PLAYS JFK IN LANA DEL REY’S NEW VIDEO

I love it, yeah. I think you make a great JFK. How did it come about?
Lana wrote the treatment with me in mind. She wanted me to be the lead guy. Shit is like, everybody knows we got a thing for each other and we wanted to show that on screen. She’s a genius like…. nigga look at this bitch, I wanna fuck the shit outta her. Look at her she’s gotta be in her late 30s and shit… Err, Hello?

Video: Great Plains on Cablevision (Columbus, 1983) from Old 3C’s forthcoming DVD

Paul Nini’s Old 3C Records is putting out a Great Plains DVD called Directions to the Party, chock full of Great Plains performances from Comfest 1987, Stache’s in ’85, more recent reunions in Columbus and Brooklyn in ’08, and a 1983 Cablevision TV performance, which you can preview above.

Dig Tim Anstaett’s rambling intro, which is basically a two-minute history of his TKA/The Offense zine/newsletter through 1983, along with plea for 50-cent subscriptions. All the while, behind him, an early lineup of Great Plains cracks jokes and eventually just starts playing “Cave-in” over him. It’s a priceless slice of Columbus history, as is the whole DVD.

Yesterday was a pretty big day for Fly Union. They had a song  off their Mnkey Wrench Project played on MTV.  Respected L.A. rapper Dom Kennedy dropped an album that has a song produced by Fly Union and their friend Lebron James won the NBA title.

Too bad none of these things were impressive enough for them to be selected to play ComFest this weekend.

Mr. MFN eXquire announces EP, tour dates and “Huzzah” out July 3rd

photographed by Jamel Shabazz

Mr. MFN eXquire is 2012’s incarnation of a Brooklyn emcee. You know the 718 type who is both cool and funny at times and also can be pissed and raw about how foul the world and themselves are. eXquire can rap about being the flyest out. He can also rap about drinking himself in a stupor out of depression. I would say he is the bridge between Smooth tha Hustla and Company Flow .

Kafka in the hood indeed.

But that really only works if you were trying to promote a rapper in 1999 in New York City.
Do you have friends that are leary of the hipster shit and don’t fuck with southern rap at all. So they bump Jay-z, Nas and are warming up to Danny Brown and like the idea of A$ap Rocky?

I know I am writing this like eXquire hasn’t been a media darling or wasn’t on my top albums of 2011 list. But that’s because he is dropping last years underground smash Huzzah! on July 3rd via I-tunes which is the lead single off his debut EP for Universal Records, entitled Power and Passion which comes out in September.

So obviously they are trying to build Huzzah’s buzz to something bigger..

After the jump peep videos for Huzzah and it’s remix ft. Despot, Das Racist, Danny Brown & El-P.
And Mr. MFN eXquire’s tourdates which the bulk of are with El-P, Despot and Killer Mike.

Saturday: Warrant helps A.D. Farrow Co. celebrate its 100th anniversary in Sunbury

A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a full day of activities in Sunbury (about 15 minutes north of 270 on 71). The event is being presented by Nationwide Insurance and will feature a late afternoon performance by my favorite ’80s hair metal band, Warrant (“Cherry Pie”, “Heaven”, “Down Boys”, “Sometimes She Cries”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, etc).

Live music should start around 4:30 with country-rockers Kicking Dixie getting the crowd warmed up. Warrant will go after that – not sure of the exact set time. Admission is FREE.
