This is anti-shitty band, death of the whatever kind of genre that includes the likes of brokeNCYDE, Millionaires, Attack Attack!, 3oh!3, et al. Look, I was a dumb kid once too and my musical taste to this day is most certainly questionable, but how in the world are people falling for this shit? Are the eight graders doing heroin these days? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck. That said, if any of the aforementioned bands would like to be featured on a very influential music blog, hit me up, let’s party…Millionaires I’m looking at you.
In this episode of phalangic diarrhea i will relate hilarious anecdotes about the bands I saw and stuff I did, including but not limited to Jack White’s newest cash cow vanity project, some cougar “milf” lady that bought me and a few others some pizza, Cheater Slicks being good again, me being a lousy MC and Puerto Rican dudes liking tambourines. Also Mike O and Woody from Ravari Room oh man. Continue reading
I dunno what you’re getting into this weekend that everybody’s working for, but this is what I’m looking forward to…
tombs just got done opening for Isis and Pelican. tombs are from Brooklyn. Everyone knows Brooklyn goes hard. tombs are playing at Ravari Room on Friday night with Columbus dudes Struck by Lighting.
Saturday is the annual Volatility fundraiser at Madlab featuring Hotel Eden, Deerhead, The Receiver and former Miranda Sound dudes, Bicentennial Bear. Also, a bunch of other stuff. Go and support your local arts community buy getting wasted on PBR.
Sunday Night at Ravari Room is the dual assault of Hydra Head dudes Harvey Milk and Torche. I saw Torche last time they were in town and they ripped my face off. I hope i still have one on Monday HAHAHA.
Complete Volatility schedule after the jump. Continue reading

There’s no such thing as good music. All bands suck, especially yours. It’s all been done before and there is no such thing as a new genre, no matter how many you try to cram in your shitty songs. Basically what I’m saying is fuck that band Attack Attack! for being from Columbus. Crabcore? MORE LIKE CRAPCORE HAHAHA AMIRITE
This week I jammed to Michael at The Agit Reader Happy Hour, went to a sold out hipster fuck-fest at The Summit, jammed to some sweet bands at the CMC Parking Lot Blow Out and watched some bands in a pretty cool warehouse space. Continue reading

Oh man Comfest...or something like that. Basically there are a number of ways to go about Comfest. You can camp out somewhere in the park on a blanket, go check out bands with “clever” band names, wander around aimlessly running into people you know and drink booze and eat food and not pay attention to any bands, or you can hang out at the Offramp Stage all weekend like I pretty much did and watch bands that you know will be good.
How many times can you say the same things about the same bands? Find out after the jump! Continue reading

MP3: Revival by Phantods
Phantods, one of the hardest working bands in Columbus, celebrate the release of their new EP “Revival” on July 3rd at Skully’s Music-Diner with Mrs. Fahrenheit and the Loverboys. I feel like Phantods are a band that I don’t go out enough for and if you haven’t caught them, now is your opportunity. Creepy, melodic and super tight, they were kind enough to give me an mp3 to share so download the track “Revival” and tell me it isn’t one of the coolest tracks you’ve heard in a while…dare I say it’s a song I can’t stop listening to?

HAHAHA JK!!! I’m gonna keep it up until Duffy stops paying me HAHAHA
I guess I’ve finally recovered from/managed to totally repress the Rock on the Range debacle enough to move on with my life and regurgitate more of my feeble thoughts into words for all you super awesome, totally amazing jerks to read. I think I’m scarred for life. I mean more scarred. Whatever.
This account of events that I observed actually occurred only over the weekend because I’m too poor to drink at bars every night…Duffy, is that expense check really in the mail? Continue reading

What sounded like a good idea a few months ago didn’t sound like the best idea in the world when it came down to actually attending Rock on the Range this past weekend. I sucked it up and powered through it though and it was one of the biggest wastes of time, money and energy that I have experienced thus far in my 31 years on our mother earth. It reminded me of going to Warped tour and Ozzfest only I’m not so young and not so dumb, so i knew better than to enjoy it. Continue reading

Having good conversation is awesome. Learning stuff is cool as fuck. Live music rules. If only there were more hours in a day to TALK TALK TALK, LEARN LEARN LEARN, AND ROCK ROCK ROCK OH MAN.
I made it out for The Receiver cd release, $hithole Dayfe$t and saw an epic moons set.
