DJ Pos 2 Has A Point(Re:Columbus Hip Hop)

YouTube Preview Image

Pos 2 is the homie from the willy-way back. Dood held down Bernies Hip Hop Night. He was Przm and Daymon’s right hand man. Anyway…dood will be launching a blog soon. It will be filled with Columbus History. As evident in the above video.

He thinks things are just fine in 2009.

Fly Union-Coming to America/Say You Will Mp3s

fly-union

Happy New Year from Fly Union.

Actually, these two new songs aren’t really on a jovial party tip. The first MP3 has Jerreau doing a twist on the Welcome to Marcy/Come Home With Me type song. Usually when cats discuss the bleak outlook living in the hood creates then no morals becomes the moral.  Usually a message of  “get money by any means” results from the depiction of a grim reality. Jerreau’s point deviates from this idea on the premise that he just can’t do joints like that because of what he has witnessed.

Jerreau weaves a discussion about his 14 year-old cousin getting shot in with the prison industry, the media, Columbus Public Schools, the war in Iraq and a general idea of genocide through negligence.

The second song  has Jerreau going over Kanye’s “Say You Will” detailing an on & off relationship.  It’s got some details that are fairly new hipsterblog  developments on this sort of love song. He talks about buying  limited SB dunks to relieve the stress. Stalking facebook is also mentioned alongside traditional heartbreak themes of ‘got a new girl but miss you’.

I thought about going to Jerreau’s Facebook to try to figure out who the girl was.  But I have no idea on how to use facebook for any reason other than to approve random photos of myself. After getting distracted by a Chedda Gets Chedder banner I decided to just listen to the songs instead.

Jerreau, I will leave  you a comment saying that I saw Lebron James salute a dejay for playing a Fly Union song if that will help you any bee.

MP3: Coming To America

MP3: Say You Will

MP3: N.P. of Thought Set “If You Down…”

Enphanate,Meta4ce,Rich,Gorf, Envelope, and N.P.

MP3: If You Down… by N.P. aka Npayshint of Thought Set

If you copped the Catalyst’s Fuck The Radio Mix Cd then you are already familiar with N.P. Or you might have heard him on either of Envelope’s album. He was the one at the end of “Turn it up ” singing:

“Sometimes I am pot head. Other days I am an alcoholic. One day I am gonna drop dead. And that’s the only way I am gonna stop it”

If you didn’t hear those songs…let me see. He has a voice and hook writing ability that a Method Man fan can run with and rap patterns that can compete with any NYC smack dvd mc. In fact Smack or Hood to Hood shoulda been a Boma last Summer when N.P. fought like three doods by himself in the parking lot.

Get Right had just ended, and a huge brawl broke out. When everything started making sense the whole thing looked like the video game Double Dragon or a like a Chuck Norris movie. Basically multiple people were attacking N.P. and he was just dropping them. It was funny cause normally when you see a bunch of doods attacking one of your friends your instincts tell you to intervene. But in all of us there was a weird calm like..Reggie has this. Don’t ruin it for him.
And sure enough. Dood knocked them all out.

This isnt to say N.P. is a thug or a criminal. I am just saying dood fought and beat up multiple attackers at once.

The Godz/Bootlegger/Mike Rep+the Quotas/Envelope Tonight

Normally, I keep most things seperate. But tonight is pretty special. A close friend of mine, Lev’s, and his father Eric Moore are performing at Carabar. Yes, the Godz,Mike Rep,Envelope and and the Bootleggers are sharing the Carabar stage. Read the article I wrote about it in the Alive. Guns and fucking roses dood.

DJ Przm Video-He Changed His Style Up

YouTube Preview Image

Przm always carried his handycam around. And pretty much he only taped girls. Bru Lei gave me a dvd-r of some of Przm’s footie last year. It was funny because there would be like 34 seconds of performances, and then immeadelty the camera would switch to girls backsides. It wouldn’t even be like attractive girls. But I mean..Shit was funny cause you could P’s thought process like “this rapper.he sucks….WHO IS SHE? Yeah, I see you girl.”

Anyway, Bru edited down some of Przm’s tapes and made the above video. And to Przm’s credit. It’s a video full of ugly white girls.

PBJ Paints a Flying Saucer

RJD2 @ Andyland Factory Wexner Presentation Ball

The Wexner Center had a Factory themed party called Andyland that enlisted perhaps the only superproducer in the age of internet/touring fame that is from Columbus, former Huntington Bank teller and Columbus State Calculus student, RJD2. The superproducer turned songwriter that will be the only instrumental hip hop producer that will be acceptable to sample  in the year 2032 because he played instruments and organized the songwrites in loop friendly increments on his last recorded release The Third Hand. The superproducer did not bring a band nor engage in fancy turntable combination arrangements for this this gala. The superproducer was here to play music off his turntables that were hooked up to the Serato computer program channeled thru his mixer for Ladies in waiting, Handsome suitors, townies with charisma, hustlers and general patrons of the arts.

New Lone Catalyst Video-Make It Better

YouTube Preview Image

I spoke to the world’s nicest man in Hip Hop today J-Rawls, today. He told me that Lone Catalyst had a new video. The clip pays homage to classic Hip Hop records, and makes a nod Krs-One’s “My Philosphy” . Peep the cameo by DJ Detox’s hands towards the middle. And myself at the very end. I was really drunk that night so I am thankful that the audio doesn’t exist to the public.

Kitchen-Motel Footage of Camu

When the MHZ moved to NY to solidify their friendships with Def Jux and EC, they would come home and tell us stories about living in a shitty apartment. Some of these experiences ended up on some of the Bagface 5 songs. I am assuming this video is of the Kitchen-Motel they stayed in.

“The only difference between the Wayans Brothers and the Smothers Brothers is that the Smothers Brothers are actually funny.”

Bizzy Bone Columbus Footage

Last month, Bizzy Bone made his Columbus rounds promoting his new album, A Song For You. The Thuggish-Ruggish Bustown native did an instore signing at my workplace Magnolia Thunderpussy, before doing the club thing at Major Woodys. Dood was hella cool, down-to earth, friendly and charismatic. It was a trip to watch Bizzy rap along with the music while chatting people up.

Copywrite was in the store today dropping off some of his mix cds and he put me on to this you tube footie of Bizzy’s Columbus escapades.

Peep Big Shows Car Shows from Weed Steeler getting his skateboard singed by Bizzy. You can’t miss me looking corny and fat in the background in the Vomitrocity tee during the instore. The Major Woody’s footie is cool cause it has the much beleaguered Bizzy getting treated like the star that he is from the hometown crowd.
