Columbus, Ohio Spotify Playlist

I’ve been loving Spotify ever since I started to use it earlier this month. I know people seem to be into Rdio a little more but honestly I never tried it out and am too busy lazy to check out the other service.

Playlists are a big thing on Spotify and I figured I’d share one that I’ve put together. My
Columbus Ohio playlist features music from as many Columbus bands that I could find (two albums max). The playlist includes Ron House, Royal Crescent Mob, Blueprint, Envelope, RJD2, The Black Swans, The Sun, Megan Palmer, Lydia Loveless, New Bomb Turks, Times New Viking, The Whiles, J Rawls, and many more.

If there are Columbus bands on Spotify that I missed, let me know in the comments and I’ll add them.

Video: “Envelope Plays a High School Graduation Party”

Priceless footage of two of Columbus’ finest Envelope & DJ Detox playing a High School graduation party.
At some point, Envelope tells the kids that not going to college will lead them to “the misdemeanor of the month club”. He also lies to them and tells them that the Black Eyed Peas are taking him on tour after leading the young people in “Fuck the Police” chants.

Shot by Pelham Johnston, Adrian Stucker

Envelope will be be involved with a ceremony of a different age bracket as he performs at the Ace of Cups Grand Opening Saturday. Ex-Whites and Columbus rock legends Scrawl are also on the bill.

If you live in Columbus, then you have to love this video. Filmed at the Carabar, this is very familiar scenario for most artistic townies.

If you don’t live in Columbus…I’m sure there is booze and floozeys in your city.

KEEP BOUNCING is off Blueprint’s new album Adventures in Counter-Culture, due April 5th on Rhymesayers Entertainment. Cameos by Latimore Plattz, Envelope, Zerostar, Ill Poetic, Bridget, this girl that worked at Bento, Donnie, Kate, random black dyke, Intricate Sunz, Ron from the Carabar, and myself.

Three Years at The Monster House

Jimi “James” Payne posted this over on Banalization.

James “Jimi” Payne

For the past three years I have lived in the Monster House, a DIY punk house in Columbus, Ohio. I co-founded the Monster House with Pat Crann, Austin Eilbeck, Ryan Eilbeck, Jeff Love, Kristina Markey, Matt O’Conke, Joe Scarbro, Dylan Taylor-Lehman, and Nick Wong. A few weeks ago the last three original roommates – besides me – left. And, as of this week, I’m moving out as well. A group of our friends still living at the Monster plan to continue hosting shows and events. On October 8th, Apache DropoutLandlordReverse The Curse, and Cody Troyan are performing there.

After “the jump” is a list of every performer who occasioned the “stage” at the Monster House in the last three years. 400 different performers have played over 150 shows booked by over 20 promoters. The list is representative of the Columbus punk scene as well as the national DIY touring circuit from 2007-10.

More than 30 people paid rent at the house during this time span.

Vote For Kate Hutson in MTV’s Twitter Jockey Contest

As you may or may not be aware of a Columbus girl, Kate Hutson, is in the running to be MTV’s first Twitter Jockey. They’ve been showing her on MTV and have a billboard with her picture in New York. If Kate wins she gets a job that will pay her 100,000 and have her be the network’s first twitter host
She has been going through a series of challenges in the competition. Today she interviewed Asher Roth. A couple days ago, RJD2 and her held a twitter convo
Anyway to help her win, please vote for Kate here: MTV TJ Voting
Voting ends 5pm Thursday
